How does it work?
Pocket Filters:
- Pocket filters are composed of multiple, flexible pockets or bags, which are organized in a V-shape or U-shape inside a frame. The pockets are generally prepared using fiberglass, synthetic fibers, or other filter media. The frame provides support to the pockets and keeps them in place, and the material used for the frame is either plastic or metal. The filter media is either folded or arranged in the form of pleats, which provides maximum surface area and increases the filter’s ability to trap airborne contaminants while ensuring a low resistance to airflow.
- In this filter, the pockets are the primary filtering components. The pockets have a deep structure, which provides them a high dust-holding capacity and increases the filtration efficiency. When air flows through the pockets, the filter media captures large-sized particles. These particles are blocked by the fine fibers of the filter media, restricting them from going further and ensuring that the air coming out from the filter is clean.
- The filter features dual-layered synthetic media, which can capture pollutants of different sizes.
- These filters are particularly effective in high-paint-holding and overspray applications.
Pad Filters:
- Pad filters are mainly used to prevent dust buildup on HVAC coils. They are composed of fibrous materials like polyester, fiberglass, or synthetic fibers. The fibers are organized into a loose, non-woven configuration, which permits airflow while capturing particles of different sizes.
- iTech Pad Filters use multi-layered synthetic media (G3 and G4 classes) to capture particles.
- These filters mainly employ the mechanical filtration process to trap particles, i.e., they use physical barriers to block and capture the contaminants in air.
- Pad filters are usually employed in areas where low filtration levels are adequate or where pre-filtration is required before the air reaches more advanced stages of filtration.
- These filters maintain system efficiency and cleanliness in ventilation systems.

Applications
Both Pocket filters and Pad filters are a critical part of HVAC systems and air filtration units. They are extensively used in HVAC systems in commercial and industrial environments owing to their high filtration efficiency and high dust-holding capacity. The industries where they are usually applied are data centers, healthcare, microelectronics, pharmaceutical sector, infrastructure, commercial buildings, and food and beverage industry.
